Springfield is located in southwestern Missouri. It includes the Discovery Center that has interactive science exhibits on topics like dinosaurs. To the north is Dickerson Park Zoo that features animals from around the world and train rides. You can ride a tram through caves and there is also the Nathanael Greene/Close Memorial Park that includes trails and botanical gardens.

The city has a long history of minor league baseball teams, and has also hosted numerous exposition games.
Springfield’s population is diverse. The median age in the city was 33 years, and there were approximately twenty-four percent of children under the age of eighteen. Twenty-four percent of residents are married, and twenty-nine percent of households are composed of single people. One-fifth of residents are 65 years old or older.
