Mumford is a community in Greene County in the state of Missouri. It is located at the junction of Jones Branch and Pierson Creek, 1.3 miles east of the current U.S. 65 bypass in east Springfield. The old St. Louis-San Francisco Railway passed southwest of it. The old Mt. Pisgah School is located just north of it. A post office called Mumford was established in 1887 and was operational until 1924. The community was named after the original owner of the site. Leonard Dodson, a professional golfer, was born at Mumford.
